The Reading Room : logoNext Wednesday 9th February, we will be arriving in Bangkok after a long period of planning and preparation remotely. This will be the first time we put our idea of the Reading Room's residency into its real context. We are very excited about this coming busy months as there will be an opportunity for us to evaluate and further develop the project into an established residency program.

One of the project's main objectives is to make a collection of discourse materials in art, culture and politics from Sweden available to Thai audiences. Thank you to ArtMonitor and Geist, especially Emma Corkhill and Andjeas Ejiksson, for kindly donating some of their back issues which would be part of The Reading Room’s archive.

Please see below for more information about the publishers.

ArtMonitor Nr8/2010

ArtMonitor : The Swedish Journal for Artistic Research

"The journal ArtMonitor aims to break a silence. Artistic research, established in Sweden as an academic activity during the last ten years, needs its own periodical. The Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts of the Gothenburg University has set this as its aim and here is the result: a journal for documentation, reflection and dialogue on the ardent theme of artistic research. ArtMonitor is published in English, and sometimes in bilingual Swedish/English editions." - http://www.konst.gu.se/artmonitor

Method GEIST

Geist

"Geist uses the journal medium as a form for artistic expression and moves between art and essay writing through stagings and variations on themes and figures. Every issue is published as a free-standing project which means that both the journal’s form and the disposition of its content shift with each staging. The first issue of Geist was published in 2002 by Andjeas Ejiksson and Lisa Jonasson." - http://www.geist.se
